“Why can’t photographers be honest like Ansel Adam’s was? Why must they do so much post processing?”
I sometimes say that “I don’t do anything Ansel Adam’s didn’t do” (except digital). But that is a bit tongue-in-check.
Ansel Adams said that the “Negative is the Score, the Print the Performance” (he started out as a concert pianist). He spent far more time in the darkroom than in the field. And his gear for ‘trick’ photography in the darkroom was very extensive.
