ABOUT THE SLICKPIC ACADEMY

The SlickPic Academy began in 2023 as a way for us to give back to the photo community at large, with informative and inspirational presentations by working artists and pros. Past presenters include such luminaries as Rick Sammon, Tony Sweet and Catherine Karnow, Bob DiNatale, Rick Hulbert, Roxanne Bouché-Overton and others on a wide variety of topics. Video replays can be found on the SlickPic YouTube channel

In 2024, we also introduced one of our most popular series, the “52-week Photo Challenge”. Each week, we introduce a new assignment (e.g. “long-exposure” or “symmetry”) that encourages learning, practice and sharing on a particular subject. Photographers may shoot new images for each week, or find and re-imagine older work. Join anytime by visiting this blog post, and get inspired by looking at all the images submitted to the 52-week Challenge thus far.

SlickPic was created by a group of like-minded photographers and photography-enthusiasts who wanted a service that wouldn't force them to conform to a certain style or niche, but one that would allow them the freedom to use their photos to tell whatever stories they want. They wanted a service that was capable of storing, showcasing, sharing, and displaying photos in all the different ways people use photos: some are meant just for family, some are taken for friends, and some are made for the world to see.
