Battle for Long King Creek was an Civil War reenactment which was held in Livingston Texas March 19 thru 21st., 2010

The event took place during a very cold weekend which was windy and chilly. The reenactors brought their families which included children who toughed it out in Civil War type tents with outdoor fires for food and warm drinks. This was truly a real life reenactment. They didn't just shoot at each other and go home, but instead, lived in real tough weather conditions which gave them a real life experience.

As a photographer, I was excited to be able to take pictures of these fine people who reenacted a historical battle which they shared with the public. I wanted to capture not just the cannons and guns blazing, but the people who made this event happen. Also, I wanted to capture the hardships of living in cold weather without modern comforts. In a way, I too wanted to share a historical record with my photography by spending three days with the reenactors and then turning the pictures into the type of photos that might have been taken during the war.

The pictures you see here are mostly my colorized versions, but not seen here are many black and white and sepia photos with vignettes. Those pictures probably are more true to life of "antique" type pictures, but I didn't feel it would be a good idea to duplicate or triplicate my work on one page. If anyone who reads this intro feels they would like to see the other versions not shown, please post a comment and if enough viewers request to see the black and white and sepia photos, I'll create another album.

Thank you for taking time to view this labor of love, and please don't hesitate to leave your comments. Even suggestions on style seen here.
