:GIL's programme proposals: Mozart: Sonata in F, K533/494 Julian Cochran: 2 Preludes, Scherzo no.1 Brahms: Sonata . 2 in F sharp minor, op. 2 Tchaikovsky/Liszt: Polonaise from Eugene Onegin Gil about his programmes: This programme - which includes one of Mozart’s greatest keyboard works, and Brahms’ spectacular entrance into the music world, with his F sharp minor Sonata – is sure to be a recital programme of endless highlights! To accompany these two masterpieces, I will showcase one of Australia’s most interesting and individual composers - Julian Cochran. Julian’s music is not harshly dissonant, nor feel-good New Age. It is music of immense individual character, whose central purpose has not lost its thread with the classical past. The final work on my first programme is one of the most flagrantly virtuoso works in the entire piano literature.
