Mandalas by GeneWheeler

The word "mandala" comes from Sanskrit meaning "circle." Even though it may be dominated by squares or triangles, a mandala has a concentric structure. Mandalas offer balancing visual elements, symbolizing unity and harmony. The meanings of individual mandalas is usually different and unique to each mandala. The goal of the mandala is to serve as a tool on our spiritual journey as it symbolizes cosmic and psychic order.

A photo mandala starts with a digital image of choice. Using a special software program, called Kaleider, images are manipulated to emulate various Kaleidoscope, Mirroring, 3D Mirroring and Funneling effects, using only the colors in the image file. Effects can be controlled manually to create particular desired results, or patterns can be automatically, randomly generated to provide a fascinating, ever-changing display of colors and image fragments.
