This year, the Missouri Botanical Garden is hosting an all-new Chinese lantern exhibit to amaze and inspire visitors. The 2015 Lantern Festival features unique installations with environmental, historic, and plant-based themes.
China is home to approximately 10 percent of the world's plant diversity. However, those plants are increasingly threatened, with 4,000 to 5,000 species at risk of extinction. Botanical gardens are uniquely positioned to help preserve plant diversity, and China now hosts 160 botanical gardens, most created during the last 20 years. More are being established each year as the country responds to needs for plant protection, and the Garden is proud to take an active role in this process.
