1967 Doom Buggy
1967 sand rail (doom buggy)
This is the winter project a 1967 sand rail.
The plexiglass windshield will be replaced with a real one.
Fuel tank brackets are just held together with sheet metal screws. The brackets will be rounded off at the ends and bolted to the frame.
The oil cooler needs to be tilted up and an electric fan added.
The grandchildren like it for a jungle gym.
The homemade shifter has to be replaced.
The engine is torn down. Cylinders were honed the heads replaced due to heat cracks.
Sludge in the oil strainer.
Rebuilt engine with shiny new heads being lowered into place.
The ball joints were still good but the rubber boots were cracked and torn.
While waiting for the front end parts to show up, the beam was stripped.
This is the new color the girls picked out. Note the ugly headlights are gone.
