After leaving Burgess Falls, we stopped at a CSA farm for ice cream cones. Yum! Then, we headed on down - about a 30-minute drive - to Rock Island SP. The first trail we wanted to hike was closed, due to high water - oh, darn! We took a few pics then, back in the cars. We drove down to another section of the park and hiked a 3-mile loop. Part way around the loop, we stopped for lunch on a bunch of boulders that overlooked the Great Falls. Then, we walked past the other side of the parking lot to see the powerhouse and Great Falls. This is where I earned many unpopular votes as, when, I returned, the hike leader told me that everyone had gone home. They were tired and did not want to wait for me. So, we never did get to go to the other side of the river and see the powerhouse and other features - because of me and my pics. Next time.......
