The Plateau Chapter of Tennessee Trails Assn., and I, were supposed to hike Honey Creek in the Big South Fork; the government had other plans. We drove over the Polly Branch trail head, only to find that, too, was closed due to hunting. So went went a few feet ahead, into Virgin Falls SNA, and hiked out to Martha's Pretty Point. Some of us (I) had part of our lunch there. Then we hiked down to Big Branch Falls which, as you can see, was bone dry; there we finished our lunch. This hike was 5.2 miles.
I consider myself one of the fortunate ones: I was in the car with Bill Harris, who absolutely loves, and knows, his history. So, with Joy's (the other person riding in Bill's car) and my permission, we went on a history tour. I am hoping that Bill will provide a write-up, so I can amend this post for everyone's enjoyment.
