Thirteen folks from the Davis Family YMCA in Farragut, TN, headed up to Virginia to Sand Cave and White Rocks. Due to the weather turning rainy (earlier than forecast), extremely windy and ever-colder, we decided Sand Cave would have to be all we did. However, White Rocks was viewable from the trail, as seen in pic #10. The temp at the top was 53 degrees; we factored in high wind and decided 45 degrees was the feel-like temp. This was a very strenuous hike - 4.5 miles UP and 4.5 miles down. The "steps" down to Sand Cave were very deep - especially difficult for those with short (me!) or weak, legs, coming out of the area. I made it with only one brief cardio break! Yeah!!!
Hope you enjoy the pics.
