The main god of the shrine is Ōyamakui-no-kami, god of business success, and protector of nature. Hie Shrine was the protector of Edo Castle and Tokugawa Shogun, and also the protector of Edo people during Edo Period. Its June 15 Sannō Matsuri is one of the three great Japanese festivals of Edo (the forerunner of Tokyo). Founded in 1478. Today, many people visit for their success and peace. This is about 2 blocks from our apartment.

Hey, I bought little monkey statues for my shelves on my rock foundation. They are wearing fez hats and reading books. Are they part of this shrine?

What a beautiful place. HEY! Maybe you should start a blog for all of us and report your adventures (even the little daily ones). I for one would LOVE that!

I love that you sent these pictures! Thank you so much. The ones painted red are different from the one close to your apt. Are these pics of 2 or 3 shrines?
Exciting to see them since I have never been there. How is the food?

All these structures and half a dozen more are part of the same shrine.
