This is Tori and I starting a truffle hunting tour with a picture of Florence in the background. Florence is the capital of the Tuscan region, the birthplace of the Renaissance, and home to Chianti wine and amazing food.
2
This is Choco, the truffle hunting dog. He sniffs out the truffles which exists below the ground and out in the Tuscan countryside. Truffles are very expensive and they quickly lose their flavor and taste. That is why this tour was so fun--we got to go find fresh truffles in the countryside and them have them cooked for us for lunch.
3
Here are three white spring truffles that Choco just found. They smell so good and will end up in our lunch in about 1 hour.
4
Truffles on bread.
5
Lunch was served in a beautiful Tuscan villa where they make their own wine, cure their own meets and obviously procure their own truffles.
6
This is our tour group about to crush the truffles. Our tour guide was also a certified Sommelier, so we got to learn a lot about the wines of the region.
7
Tori atop a hill in San Miniato. It is a cute town in the truffle region.
8
This is Tori and I at another vineyard in Tuscany. It sounds ridiculous to say it, but countryside looks just like the painted walls of a Macaroni Grill. I'll spare you all the diatribe on Chiantis and Tuscan wines, but ask if you have questions.
9
Im lazy, I dont remember the name of this church... we have seen so many.
10
This is the Florence market. It was awesome.
11
Photos from atop the iconic Duomo Del Fiore. I never could get a good picture of this church because the buildings here are so closely smashed together.
12
13
Because the buildings are so close together (and because I dont have a proper wide angle lens), I couldnt get the entire gargantuan church in 1 photo... sorry.
14
Another failed attempt.

Need I say more? You have to have an actual permit to be able to drive inside the older part of Florence and trust me you did not want to do that, especially in my car. This car however, may have made it a little easier.
17
Michelangelo's David depicting David before he fought Goliath. Michelangelo did this when he was 18 or 19 years old. The statue is 17 feet tall so it is massive. It was very impressive.
18
This is the Church of Sante Croce and buried inside are many famous people including... (look at the next photo)...
19
...Michelangelo, Galileo, Dante, Machiavelli... to name a few.
20
Tori and I wandered over here across the river to the palace gardens and took a long nap just laying in the green grass. We had finished a big lunch of fresh pasta and decided to sleep it off in the warm sun. It was in the 70s this day, and it was a nice change from cold Germany.
21
Other people had the same idea as us.
22
You have to do it right? I wish you could see all the other tourists who were doing this.
23
On the left is the Baptistry and the larger building is the church that are situated next to the Tower of Pisa.
24
It leans because of the marshy soil underneath. They had to spend a decade around the 1990s make it safe. They also dont know who the original architect was because he fled before the project finished. It started leaning pretty soon after construction began in the 1100s.
25
Obviously it is safe now, as we climbed to the top to take some pics. We also climbed to the top because we have been eating so much good pizza and pasta!
26
View from the Tower itself.
