We hit the rode early on Saturday morning. Our drive took us through France, Switzerland, and eventually to Lichtenstein--the first stop on our drive. This picture here shows Tori hanging out the car window and a vineyard sign in the background. We went through the Alsace wine region in France on our way down to Florence. We passed by people carting out case after case of wine. There is something special about driving through these countries. You see and experience things that you wouldnt if you were wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of airports.

Now we are in Switzerland, and you can start to see the magnificence of the Swiss Alps. The grass is so green, the sky so blue, and the snow so white. It was a fabulous drive.

More pictures through the windshield.

This sign shows how close we were to all the different countries. "A" stands for Austria, "D" for Deutschland is for Germany, and "FL" is for Lichtenstein. Basically, all these different exits take you to a different country.

Ok, now we are in Lichtenstein. This was the first stop on our drive and about 6 hours from our home where we started. We had a beautiful balcony and a great view. This was not a hotel but rather an apartment, so we decided to eat in and went to a local store to buy some food. Lichtenstein is on the Swiss Franc and that means stuff is expensive. We had frozen pizza and some bread and cheese and it costs over 50 US dollars. Yeah...

Just a view of the two of us... tripod in action.

We know nothing about his castle. And, truth be told, if we decided to pull over and take pictures of every castle that we passed, we would probably still be back in the Alps. This church and castle was in Lichtenstein, and we decided to take a few photos before leaving. Honestly though, these things were a dime a dozen here.
8
Modern neighborhoods and houses with a view of this castle... all normal for this part of the world.
9
Tori took about ten pictures here trying to capture the Swiss flag completely unfurled. Obviously, the wind did not cooperate, but you can see most of the red flag here in the picture.

This was just about the apex of our drive through the Alps. We started from near sea level, got to about a mile up, and then coasted down about 30 kilometers back towards sea level as we went through Milan and then into the Tuscan region finally ending in Florence.
11
More beautiful towns along the way.

Yes, another castle, but every 5 miles or so we would see one, so this really isnt anything special, we just wanted you to have an idea what the drive was like.
