Sensors Lab
The very alien looking facility is the anechoic chamber we built at Wright-Patterson AFB at the Sensors Directorate Laboratory. This is one of the largest anechoic chambers in the world, and it was designed to use the widest frequency spectrum of any chamber in the world (aka the highest performance ever achieved).
The flower shaped aluminum structure is called the reflector. It is about 50ft tall and was constructed at a European Space Agency facility near Munich, Germany...and flown to Ohio first class via Lufthansa Airlines!
I could go on for longer than I'd like to...so for more information regarding anechoic chambers please check Wikipedia et al.
By the way, these are my first photos with my new (long awaited) Panasonic GH2 camera, and Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95 lens! The insane speed of this lens really helped capture the dark chamber. ISO's were still 1600-3200 even at f/0.95!
Enjoy!
