It's been a looong time coming that I do something more with photography....
I have very practical plans for the blog side of my site. I plan to use it as a self-learning-and-motivating tool. It may very well blossom in to something more, as time moves forward. For the time being, however, it will probably be a very dry read for most people. My apologies in advance. :)
Just a brief insight to my photo-history, photography has been a passion of mine for 10+ years; really, it was my first, true love. In the early years, I had every intention of becoming "professional", brightening peoples' lives with beautiful images, via portraiture, wall-art, greeting cards, or what-have-you. As time slumped on, and adulthood set in more and more, however, in the past couple years the all-too-common excuse of 'just not being able to afford it' took over.
Of course one would say, well you can still dibble-dabble for fun, but I am just one of those people who wants to do something completelyif at all, especially for something I love. And with photography, to do it completely, is to keep advancing as you go. There is no end point; photo technology is forever improving, new tools are forever being created, and new skills are forever being uncovered.
But when you love something-- you know that it's just natural for you -- you never truly give it up. Time and time again, it'll make it's way back to the surface. That's exactly how I'm feeling these days. My passion for photography is budding once again. And, frankly, I'm just feeling pretty passionless, so it is time to cut the excuses, and just do it

As photography headed to the way-side with the aforementioned excuse, so too did a lot of my photography knowledge and skills that I've acquired over the years. So that is where this blog will become my tool. I plan to use it to dust off my foundation of photography knowledge and to catch up with all the current photography knowledge out there today.
I will read lots, and shoot lots. I will choose various topics, like lighting, and give myself mini shooting assignments. I will come here to write about the topics I've chosen, the assignments I've given myself, how I went about executing the assignments, what I do correctly, what I do wrong, and most importantly what I have learned (and discovered!). What is motivating about the blog is that it gives me a place to cement my learning. By writing about what I learn, I will be able to make the gathered knowledge more permanent. (Like they always say, repetition makes it stick.)
And though this blog is something I am clearly making for myself, I do have hopes that it will connect me with other aspiring, and seasoned, photographers. Who knows, maybe we can learn from each other.
