Dona Juana via N-Ridge to Balancing Boulder, return via Colorado Canyon 5/12/19
We arrived at the village of Dona Juana (note: both n ~ tilde - this editor bombs out if I try to employ ALT-char) on Mother's day - which is a big event in this neck of the woods.
As we alighted our vehicles, an oompah band struck up with bright music from the adjacent church yard.
We set out along the N-Ridge following the direct route to False Peak ( ~8,800').  From there our trail led slightly downwards along the edge of dramatic cliffs, to a location which harbors Balancing Boulder and also Picnic Place.  These overlook the valley floor in the Colorado Canyon (~7,000'+) below.

Our photo records starts at this location below, for lunch around 10:50 am.

Stella in the sun.  With a cool breeze blowing across the ridge - here's one hiker's choice of seat.  Back to the canyon below.  Dry winter season, so the distant view at this time of year is hazy.
