Ouimet Canyon is this truly bizarre, alien place about 10 km off the Trans-Canada Highway, roughly halfway between Terrace Bay and Thunder Bay. Honestly, it was a little hard to grasp that it was a natural geographic formation, but so it is. Apparently geologists aren't sure exactly how it formed, but we know it involved volcanic activity and then glacial movement. Whatever caused it, it's quite a breathtaking sight, in part because it seems to be in the middle of nowhere, all by itself.
